In a joint venture with J.F. White Contracting Company, Skanska will build the Fore River Bridge replacement in Boston, MA, for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT).
The total project is worth USD 245 M, about SEK 1.7 billion. Skanska will include its full contract amount, USD 98 M, about SEK 670 M in order bookings for Skanska USA Civil for the third quarter 2012.
The project includes designing and building a vertical lift bridge connecting the towns of Weymouth and Quincy in the Boston Metropolitan area. Skanska will demolish the current temporary bridge and build a new one where the original Fore River Bridge was located. Work began in September 2012 and is expected to be complete by February 2017.
