The USGBC Orange County chapter will unveil the “Greenovation Project” at USGBC-OC Davis Magnet School on September 29, 2012.
The unveiling ceremony will be held at 1050 Arlington Drive in Costa Mesa, California, between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. This project will be one of the leading green schools pilot projects in southern California. The event will be free for all attendees. All guests will be able to tour through rooms 7 and 8 to understand the advantages of green school renovations in the existing classroom.
The goal of this project is to generate a blueprint for other schools to enhance their learning environment and expand their environmental curriculum. September 29 will be celebrated as the first annual Green Apple Day of Service. It is a day when teachers, students, parents, and advocates all over the world will initiate efforts to make schools healthier and more sustainable. Davis Magnet School is a publicly funded institution and this program will be supported by subsidized funds with the form of donations in both cash and kind. USGBC Orange County members have contributed by giving their time. A Sponsor Celebration Event will also be organized at the school on 11 October, 2012 at 5:00 p.m. Disney, AEF, Brookside Builder Services, LPA, HMC Architects, Studio SA, Lutron, Patcraft Carpet, IMA+Design, Konsortum1 and Arborite are some of the sponsors.
There are some additional events taking place for environmental and Green Economy awareness. These include the 3rd Annual Inland Empire Green Building + Business Expo “From Red to Green: Finding Your Profit in the Green Economy” to be held October 24, 2012 at Waxie Sanitary Supply, Ontario, California.
