Alside, a renowned manufacturer and supplier of vinyl windows and siding products for residences, commemorates 65 years of its distinction in industries of home improvement and new constructions.
In 1947, Jerome J Kaufman, founder of Alside, brought out the first baked enamel aluminium siding for houses. From then on, Alside has grown to manufacture and supply vinyl siding, vinyl fencing, vinyl windows, and other external construction products through 100 company-owned Alside Supply Centers and a widespread network of nationwide independent distributors. The products are sold to professional remodeling companies, builders and contractors.
The important landmarks of the organization are – opening the first Alside Supply Center in 1952 in Pittsburgh, PA; becoming a public company in 1960; producing its first replacement window in 1980; bringing out Charter Oak premium vinyl siding in 1996 and producing its 5-millionth window the same year; being identified as ENERGY STAR National Window Partner in the year 2002 for the third year running; and opening its 100th Alside Supply Center also in Pittsburgh, PA.
During its 65th anniversary, Alside will have a week-long celebration starting on Monday, August 6, at its headquarters in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Important happenings will include a United Way Day of Action on Monday and a celebration with corporate staff and retirees on Thursday, August 9. The celebrations will involve food and refreshments and opening of the new AMI Legacy Center highlighting a company “timeline” wall graphic and an assortment of the company mementos. Dignitary guests will speak during the occasion and chosen employees will be given awards in recognition of their exemplary services to the organization. Customer and staff events will be held throughout the month of August in all AMI’s manufacturing units and the Alside Supply Center organization.
