Turner Construction’s subsidiary, Turner Universal has reported that the Mobile District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has awarded a contract worth $51 million to the company to design and build phase four of the Von Braun Complex at Redstone Arsenal in Alabama.
Besides building the Von Braun Missile Defense campus, Turner Universal will design and construct a multi-story administrative facility spanning 225,000 sq. ft. for the Missile Defense Agency as part of the project at Redstone Arsenal. Turner plans to begin construction this fall.
Turner Universal is the major contractor for the first and second phases of the Von Braun Complex. HNTB, the design-build partner of Turner Universal, will offer design services for the phase four of the complex. The project will be designed and built to earn LEED Silver certification.
According to John Gromos, President and General Manager at Turner Universal, the company is proud to back the U.S. Armed Forces through this project for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Arsenal. The company brings a strong working experience gained from the USACE at Redstone Arsenal, a collaborative design-build approach, and a robust design-build team for the development of the project.
Southeast Federal Account Manager for Turner, Tyce Hudson stated that the company is happy to get the chance to work at the Arsenal for one more time to construct this important facility. The team expects to work with the MDA and the USACE to develop a state-of-the-art facility for the last phase of the Von Braun Complex.
