SNC-Lavalin has announced that it has completed the official signing and financial closure of the Grandir en Sante expansion project of CHU Ste-Justine.
As per the contract, SNC-Lavalin will provide support in the form of engineering, construction and financing for the project.
The modernisation project undertaken by Grandir en Sante is currently being carried out at the Saint-Justine Hospital Centre. Under this project, two new buildings will be set up exclusively for research and specialised care. Apart from this, a new building with seven stories for specialised care units will also be constructed covering a total area of 43,269 m² and will be connected to the current facilities through underground passages and bridges. The specialised care units will include trauma surgery, integrated pediatrics and specialised pediatrics. The total capacity will be 120 beds, a surgery department with 14 rooms, 3 procedure rooms and 11 operating theatres. It will also include 32 pediatric intensive intermediate care beds, 23 bed birth unit, medical imaging facilities, 80 intensive care beds in neonatology and a 20-bed high risk pregnancy unit.
Construction for the project has already begun and is likely to be completed by the autumn of 2016. SNC-Lavalin operates through its presence in 40 countries and provides operations and maintenance services for engineering and construction groups.
