A team of experts from Dundee Kilmer Developments, officials from the city and a group of architects conducted the formal ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the first condominium building in Canary District.
The condominiums will cover an area of 35 ac and will feature 8 buildings. This will include market condominiums and affordable housing, residences for the students of George Brown College, YMCA and other amenities.
The one and two bedroom suites will start from the price range of less than $200,000. The condominium will also feature loft and townhomes. The construction has been designed by KPMB Architects and the interiors have been designed by Munge Leung. The condominium will have a total of 369 units and will be constructed in compliance with the requirements of LEED Gold certification. The exteriors of the building will be made of glass, metal and stone and the lobby pavilions will be made of glass. Other common amenities include a dining room, billiard room and a party room. The kitchens feature ceramic porcelain backsplashes and concealed appliances. The condominium is located close to the Distillery District and also includes pedestrian walkways and large scale building windows and balconies. The buildings also cater to the requirements of the Mandatory Green Building standards of Toronto. Dundee Kilmer Developments is collaboration between Kilmer Van Nostrand and Dundee Realty Corporation which was materialised specifically for the 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games Athlete Village project.
