The Park Landing Apartment Homes by Newman Garrison + Partners will feature green roofs from LiveRoof Hybrid Green Roof System. The property is being developed by Jamboree Housing Corporation.
The apartment is located in the New Block, which is an urban village design concept initiated by NG + P aimed at making development and construction economically feasible in properties that are considered too small for development. The apartments have been designed to achieve LEED for Homes Silver certification. The apartment community will consist of 70 units over four stories which will be covered by surface parking and further by the green roof.
Locally cultivated plants for the green roof will be provided by FloraSource in partnership with Native Sons Wholesale Nursery. They will also provide pre-installation consultation and technical support on-site. Park Landing will also feature around 20,000 sq.ft of outdoor space containing barbecue, fireplace, picnic areas, walking trail and tot lot. The community is being constructed on a commercial site that has been abandoned. Park Landing Apartments are being built in compliance with the requirements of the Buena Park Planning Commission for a minimum outdoor space of 14,000 sq.ft. According to the President of Florasource, Tom Hawkins, installing a fully grown mature plant field minimises long term maintenance requirements and at the same time shows immediate results.
