US-based Lennar is introducing the concept of multi-generation housing to Sparks. The company is holding a tour of the new homes to visiting customers.
This concept has gained popularity amongst the American population ever since multi-generational families have begun to live together. This concept has been developed based on this kind of living where extended families can live together in the same home with separate living spaces.
Lennar conducted extensive research into this model of living after analysing the growing demand in this sector. Based on the results of its research, the company came up with a unique floor plan which makes use of different living spaces in the same home thus utilising square footage and space effectively and at the same time maintaining privacy. According to Dustin Barker, who is the Division President of Lennar the aging population in the country are seeing a reduction in retirement investments and the economic slowdown is forcing many college going children to move back with their parents. He also added that many families are now embracing the idea of sharing a mortgage or making a single payment for two homes.
Each suite under the model provided by Lennar includes a separate entrance, laundry, living room/kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom and a stacked washer or dryer which is optional. This floor plan is integrated with the plan of the main house in such a manner that direct access to the main house is still maintained depending on the needs of the family.
