USGBC Awards LEED CI Platinum Certification to Houston's First Workplace

The U.S Green Building Council (USGBC) has awarded the prestigious LEED CI (Commercial Interior Design and Construction) Platinum certification to Planning Design Research (PDR), which is known for building high-performance workplaces for companies across the world. PDR is the first workplace in Houston to receive this certification.

PDR is situated in two Houston centers and is the first tenant in the tower to receive this LEED certification. LEED EBOM (Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance) gold certification is given to the 40-story building. The office design shows that PDR has a deep understanding about sustainability and workplaces that forms a healthy and balanced atmosphere.

LEED CI is the green standard of USGBC for the tenant development market. This certification is given only to the high-performance green interiors, which forms healthy and productive work places and low cost to function and maintain, and have a decreased ecological footprint.

94% of PDR’s frequently occupied spaces are day lit, direct external view for 92% of its regularly occupied seats, diversion of 78% of construction waste from landfill, and regional manufacturing of 56% of materials to be used in the PDR workplace are the achievements done by PDR.

Additional factors that contribute to PDR's LEED certification are the site selection in a densely and differently developed location in a sustainable office, its attempts to decrease the density of lighting power, its low-emitting materials usage that includes adhesives, paints, furniture and flooring systems, decreased usage of water for more than 35%, its superior indoor environmental quality, and an ergonomic strategy implementation all over the workplace.
