KBR Achieves Construction Contract for Texas-Based Chemical Facility

KBR declared that it has been presented with a contract to construct a new facility at ExxonMobil’s refinery and chemical plant complex in Baytown, TX. The construction of ExxonMobil’s new synthetics lubricant base stock facility is expected to be completed by 2013.

Following the completion of construction, the facility will start manufacturing ExxonMobil Chemical’s high-viscosity SpectraSyn Elite metallocene PAO base stock.

The construction project on Baytown plant includes site work, electrical, civil, structural, mechanical installation, pipe instrumentation and test and checkout services. The ExxonMobil’s Flare Gas Recovery Project in Beaumont, is supported by Technip USA, the chief contractor responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of this facility. KBR and Technip have been integrated to successfully execute a complete EPC package.

According to the Group President of KBR Services David Zimmerman, this contract is a demonstration of KBR’s efficiency in providing significant, cost-effective construction services to its customers. The construction firm anticipates improving its consistent success that resulted from Technip’s collaboration to deliver an outstanding lubricant base stock facility to ExxonMobil Chemical successfully, within the stipulated time.
