A development and investment company, California Landmark has started construction on the bw, a six-story apartment complex consisting of 78 units at the northeast corner of Barrington and Wilshire in West Los Angeles. The complex features retail stores facing Wilshire Boulevard, a modern lobby, full-service gym and a zen rooftop garden.
California Landmark is developing the mixed-use project on the property, which formerly housed a shoe store and a liquor store, in Brentwood. This apartment project is being implemented instead of an earlier plan approved in 2004 for a 28-story condominium tower. Ken Kahan, California Landmark’s president, said that a high-rise condominium tower is not a suitable solution in today’s market and he also said that the bw will cater to the housing needs of the community on the Westside.
The bw will comprise 78 single- and double-bedroom units ranging from 700 to 1300 sq.ft in size. Los Angeles-based PK Architecture, which has worked on a number of multi-family developments over the past decade with California Landmark in Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Century City, the Marina Loft District and Westwood, has designed the new apartment complex.
Kahan said that this new multi-family development in Brentwood aligns with the company’s long-term corporate vision. He also said that it is good to be developing a project of this magnitude and quality in spite of the economic challenges in the past few years.
The new apartment complex, which is under construction, is scheduled to be opened in August 2013.
