NCC Construction Sweden has been awarded an order worth SEK 250 million to build research and teaching facilities nearby Orebro University Hospital. The company will register the new order in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2011.
The new facilities will be utilized for research department of Orebro University Hospital and medical training at Orebro University. The project will be executed in the form of a partnership contract with the Orebro County Council. Partnering is an organized form of collaboration whereby contractors, consultants and developers together involved in building works. The honest and transparent method allows cooperation between different fields of expertise all through the building process.
Orebro University, which secured approval for conducting medical education in 2010 spring, now needs larger building for its medical students. As per the estimation, the existing building can accommodate six terms. However, the activities will be shifted to the new building after its completion. The research departments of both Orebro University Hospital and Orebro University will also be accommodated in the new building.
The three-story building will measure 11,600 sq. m. Laboratories, teaching rooms, a library, a restaurant and offices will be housed in the new premises. The project will employ around 50 people. The completion of the project is slated in September 2013 and the first students are anticipated in the new building in spring 2014.
