Primera Terra community owned by KB Home has been granted the 2001 LEED for Homes certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The project, one among the largest in California has received the LEED Platinum certification under the multi-family category.
The community has around 52 luxury apartment constructions fitted with water and energy conserving features to cut down their energy use by a minimum of 40% than a normal home of the same size and in select type of homes, the expense is just around $57 per month. The construction attained energy efficiency by making optimal use of the building envelop and including other features such as a cool roof instead of investing in renewable energy systems such as solar.
Primera Terra offers a choice of six floor plans up to a maximum of three bed rooms and two baths to home buyers with sizes ranging from 965 to 1,504 sq. ft. Every housing unit has a balcony or a private patio and two underground parking spaces fitted with electric vehicle charging facility. The built-in energy conserving features in each unit include WaterSense labeled faucets and toilets, efficient windows; ENERGY STAR rated lighting and appliances and tank-less water heaters. Each house will be equipped with an energy monitoring system to enable the home owners to track their energy usage using the internet or web-enabled mobile phone.
Primera Terra is a division of Playa Vista, an existing master-plan community with pedestrian friendly environment. The community is located within one mile distance from schools, offices, restaurants, shops and beach. A private community area with spa and pool is located close to Primera Terra and it is linked to a network of cycling and walking ways available all over Playa Vista.
