The ÅF Group, a technical consultancy company providing solutions and services for IT systems, development of products, infrastructure projects and industrial processes, declared that it has contracted a 10 year lease accord with Skanska to occupy 7,500 sq m of constructed area in a new green construction to be built on Grafiska Vägen in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The proposed building will comprise around 14,000 sq m of floor space and it will be built in close association with Skanska. ÅF will deploy its own consultants to manage the engineering works related to the technical installations of the construction such as lighting and acoustics, electricity, HVAC and sanitation and energy efficiency.
The design and construction of the building will showcase a constructive environmental sensitive image. The proposed construction will incorporate green features to achieve internationally acclaimed LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification issued for Green Buildings. The proposed construction is anticipated to be ready for tenancy by 2014 January.
ÅF and Skanska were locked into a similar partnership during the development of ÅF’s new headquarters in Stockholm a first ever green certified building in Stockholm, which was opened in 2008.
ÅF has plans to improve and double the size of its current operations in the city by 2015. The new "ÅF House" while meeting the space requirements of the company to facilitate its expansion also showcases the high level of eco-friendly standards maintained by the company. Its Gothenburg operations currently employ around 450 technical consultants.
