RavenBrick Installs Energy Saving Windows at National Renewable Energy Laboratory Building

RavenBrick, a clean technology company based at Denver, declared that it has recently completed the installation of its advanced type of energy saving RavenWindow, at the Research Support Facility (RSF) building of National Renewable Energy Laboratory of US Department of Energy, in Golden, Colorado.

The building reckoned to be the biggest ‘zero energy’ office building in the world, has received the LEED platinum certification. The company has completed the installation for 31 windows measuring over 400 sq ft at the NREL facility with its RavenWindow and it will also erect it in the new wing of RSF, which is presently under construction.

The smart window supplied by the company switches from the clear state and permits penetration of solar light into the building when needed to a tinted color thus preventing entry of undesirable solar heat into the building when attaining the prefixed temperature level. The building energy modeling has established that the patented RavenWindow filter supplied by the company cuts down the energy intake of a commercial construction by around 40%.

The company is presently in the last stages of its proposed expansion plans and is in the process of finalizing the buying of a an automated and high speed manufacturing line for its RavenWindows product, which will enable the company to attain a manufacturing capability of 5 million sq.ft yearly. The company is also in the process of augmenting its work force from the present 14 to 130 plus by the year 2015.
