KBR has secured a contract from Jaiprakash Associates (JAL), which is a Jaypee Group firm, to offer engineering design services and license for JAL’s brownfield ammonia plant, whose capacity is 2,200 Mt per day, in Kanpur, India.
The company is licensing its Purifier technology, which is confirmed to offer low energy utilization when compared with other various offerings in the market. The design of KBR will allow JAL to construct the ammonia unit through decreased capital costs and with consumption of low energy. The latest unit will be constructed in the current plant located at Kanpur, which was purchased recently by Jaiprakash Associates. The award is subsequent to the implementation of a revamp study of KBR for the current three identical ammonia trains of JAL, whose capacity is 450 Mt per day that were completed during late 2010.
John Derbyshire, who is the president of Technology of KBR, has stated that the company is delighted to assist the expansion of the Jaypee Group in the fertilizer market. He is sure that the Purifier technology of the company will set the base for a very robust, consistent and low energy facility in order to help out the clients to fruitfully enter the industry.
