LampsPlus.com, an online retail provider of home décor accessories and ornamental lighting has declared its association with the Los Angeles- based Good Shepherd Charity Design Program.

A Room Design with a Table Lamp from the Good Shepherd Charity Design Project

The program aims at refurbishing of rooms that are utilized by destitute and domestic abuse victims at the Good Shepherd Center for homeless Women and Children.

Lighting fixtures, table lamps and home accessories were provided freely to the Center by LampsPlus. As part of the program, 30 single occupancy rooms were improvised based on the design provided by Vanessa De Vargas, interior designer and Vanessa Kogevinas, editor, writer and consultant of the Designers Networking Group (DNG) in Los-Angeles.

Local area designers adopted one room each and redesigned the room assigned to them within one month. 10 rooms were renovated in each of the months, May, June and July totaling 30 rooms. Prior to the changes incorporated in the rooms, each room included a chair, table, drawers chest, linoleum floors, standard bath area and a bed. The designers were allowed to design and beautify the room as they desired. They could choose the paint color, wall paper, new furnishings etc. Lamps Plus donated bathroom lighting fixtures, ornamental lamps and accessories that improved the overall appearance of the room.

DNG’s Vanessa De Vargas, who spoke at the Open House Event that showcased the completed rooms expressed her gratitude to Lamps Plus for their whole-hearted support and said that each room characterized a spirit of happiness and joy that will truly brighten the women who will live there.

The Good Shepherd Center has been functional for 27 years and over 25,000 destitute children and women in Los Angeles have benefited.
