KBR has declared that it has been awarded a contract by Hyundai Heavy Industries to carry out procurement support services and engineering design for the BP Quad 204 floating production storage and offload (FPSO) project. The project location is in the UK waters at the western side of Shetland Isles.
The Quad 204 FPSO design will satisfy the stringent environment and safety rules to ensure operations in difficult conditions. KBR has been working with the Quad 204 project from the year 2008 when work began on the conceptualization of the FPSO. KBR’s offices in Jakarta, Indonesia and Singapore will provide support services for the FPSO. BP and its co-partners had declared about its progress with an important re-development of the Loyal and Schiehallion oil fields, after which this award was announced.
According to KBR Oil & Gas President, Dennis Calton, this contract is a result of excellent performance by KBR on offshore projects of BP in the Caspian Sea, North Sea and West Africa that has established KBR as a trusted contractor. He also said that the company was pleased with its sustained association with BP and the budding relationship with Hyundai Heavy Industries.
