American Campus Commences Student Housing Community Construction at the University of Wyoming

American Campus Communities, an owner, developer and manager of student housing projects in the U.S., has declared the beginning of a third-party construction venture at the University of Wyoming (UW) in Laramie.

The company has received the construction award for the 332 bed apartment-style community building construction through a competitive selection process. The construction is anticipated to be ready for occupancy in 2012 August.

The University of Wyoming with around 10,600 students in its roll has been remodeling and reconstructing its accommodation facilities lately. The new building project will come over an on-campus residence complex and provide apartment and town-home living type of units for the male students while increasing the number of apartments available in the University.

The proposed community construction will mostly include four bedroom units for single tenancy bedrooms along with a combination of shared and private bathroom facilities. The units in the community will assist the housing program of the university to provide accommodation for the students at a range of price levels.

The UW housing project also includes a commons building measuring 4,000 sq.ft and situated on the southeast corner of the construction located and linked to the main pedestrian pathway of the community to access the shuttle system of the university. The commons building, while providing residence and recreation facilities for the students will also provide accommodation for the administrative and visitor centers of the University.

The other amenities available in the proposed building will include a social lounge with a gaming area, mail center, study and meeting rooms. A laundry facility, bike storage and a barbeque pavilion is also included in the construction.
