The Toronto City Council has given Build Toronto the consent for the Rezoning application and Official Plan Amendment submitted for the development project at 4050 Yonge Street.
Build Toronto has proposed a seven storied office building featuring an atrium, public and reserved parking spaces, bicycle parking and an entrance that leads directly from the subway station located at York Mills. Located at the Northwest corner of York Mills Road and Yonge Street, 367,000 ft2 of the 480,800 ft2 gross floor area will be allocated as rentable area assigned for restaurants, cafés and commercial offices.
Designed by the same architect who designed Winnipeg’s most efficient office building, the Manitoba Hydro Place, 4050 Yonge Street is being designed to be Ontario’s most energy efficient office building. Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects will also develop a solar chimney for natural air ventilation.
Designed to LEED Gold specifications, the building’s central atrium will maximize daylight harvesting and provide fresh air while the exterior shading and the multiple green roofs will improve energy conservation.
4050 Yonge Street is likely to be ready for occupancy by 2015.
