The Building Group of KBR, an international provider of engineering, construction and services for energy, power, civil infrastructure, hydrocarbon, commercial and industrial markets, has been granted a contract to build The Heritage at Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The Heritage project, estimated to be over $30 million, would be led by the Washington regional office of the Building Group based in Vienna, Va., The project is a joint venture that is being sponsored by Priderock Capital Partners. The project’s architect is Preston Partnership.
The Heritage is an apartment complex designed on a 1.88-acre property. It will have 210 housing units along with two-level underground parking. The apartment complex has been specifically designed so as to achieve the LEED Certification. One of the two existing buildings that are located on the site is to be completely renovated. A new nine-story structure is to be built and it would connect to the existing buildings.
The President of KBR Services, David Zimmerman, stated that the project was meant to provide quality rental housing along with well-furnished amenities. He added that the company’s experience and expertise in mixed-use projects and sustainable building practices was the reason for the award of the construction project.
The Heritage construction project is expected to commence immediately.
