University of North Texas Dallas Building 2 Project Achieves LEED Gold Certification

The Beck Group and Warrior Group declared that the Academic Building 2 project of the University of North Texas Dallas has gained LEED NC Gold Certification under the energy ranking system formulated by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).

The project designed by architects Overland Partners was constructed by Beck and Warrior Group. The project actually designed to achieve LEED silver certification exceeded the requirements and achieved the gold certification.

The building structure allows improved flow of natural day lighting into the building to improve the energy efficiency of the building and to cut down its energy costs. All the interior rooms in the building are designed to have floor to ceiling level windows for improved dependence on natural sun light. The roof completed with vegetation utilized locally available plantings to offer a calm outdoor location for the visitors, staff, faculty and students. The Building 2 project is among the 10 projects that received LEED Gold certification from a total of 26 projects completed by the company in Texas.

The Shangri La Garden in Orange, Texas, for which the company has provided construction services, has achieved LEED Platinum certification. The projects such as Milton Daniel, Sherley, and Moncrief Residence Halls on the Texas Christian University Campus designed by the company have received LEED gold certification and RadioShack campus received LEED silver certification. The company has completed a number of high profile projects in Texas and California.
