NCC Construction Sweden has been chosen by Posten Meddelande to construct an eco-certified mail-sorting terminal at the Hallsberg Railyard.
The order valued around SEK 300 million will also include construction of parking facilities, an associated loading bay, construction of connecting routes and earth works.
NCC Construction as per the accord will construct a terminal measuring 28,000 m2 along with 83,000 m2 associated land area. The terminal when completed will allow the docking of trains inside the terminal building from the western trunk line directly and will have enough space to accommodate 65 trucks and other smaller sized vehicles every day.
The proposed construction will incorporate eco friendly features to cut down the energy consumption of the building. For the purpose of better communication and efficient coordination, the company provides virtual construction features to reduce the cost of the project. The building will incorporate an underground thermal heating solution.
The building project, which anticipates receiving Green Building certification is expected to commence construction soon and anticipates to get completed in December 2012. The project will provide employment opportunities to 80 to 100 construction workers.
