Manchester Texas Financial, a company engaged in acquiring, developing and managing properties in the USA, has declared its idea to build a hotel with 1,035 rooms next to the Austin Convention Center on Waller Creek.
Manchester will associate with Gensler Austin, a global planning, designing, architecture and strategic consultation providing company to develop the project. The hotel project will have two restaurants, a retail area and around 115,000 square feet area allotted for exhibitions and meetings.
According to Todd Runkle, Gensler Austin’s Managing Director, the building will incorporate a basic design that will apply sustainable strategies such as its orientation, exterior construction of the building with energy conserving capabilities and other shade introducing devices to cut down heat gain within the building. The company is expected to release the architectural design elements of the building soon. The new construction is aiming to achieve the distinction of first LEED Gold Certified building in Austin.
The proposed building will incorporate LEED green features such as occupancy monitoring system in every guest room for efficient use of energy, water saving features for rain water as well as grey water collection and will install efficient waste reduction strategies. In addition to that Gensler will combine the landscape development project of the hotel with that of the Walter Creek redevelopment project which includes placing of the hotel and restaurant lobby on the front structure of Waller Creek.
