Michael Baker Jr, the engineering arm of Michael Baker, declared that the members of its project team have been chosen by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) to supply a suitable design for the proposed new Eastbound Interstate 90 Cleveland Innerbelt Bridge in Cleveland, Ohio’s business district. Baker works as Richland Engineering’s sub-consultant.
Baker will supply exclusive designs and plan production for the designs related to waterway permitting services, utility and agency coordination, public involvement services and the main viaduct superstructure. The proposed structure will measure around 4,000 ft in length and anticipated to be constructed with an investment of around $350 million. Baker will receive around $3 million as design fee, which includes the final design services slated for closing in June 2013.
The proposed new bridge will incorporate an exclusive steel delta frame structure and will comprise a number of long spans along with high piers. The proposed bridge needs to overcome the challenge of remaining compatible with the recently constructed Westbound I-90 Innerbelt Bridge. The company will also support ODOT by utilizing its notable outreach and interactions with the local communities living close to downtown Cleveland in the inclusion of architectural landscaping and project aesthetics.
