IGS Energy, a retail natural gas supplier for residents in the USA, declared that its newly constructed Dublin Headquarters has achieved LEED platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
By achieving such certification, it has become the biggest commercial office building in the state to get the LEED Platinum certification under the new construction category and the only project in central Ohio to achieve such Platinum certification.
IGS Energy’s headquarters placed at 6100, Emerald Parkway in Dublin, Ohio was constructed over six acres of land area according to the rules of the U.S. Green Building Council. The 104,500 square foot building is one among the four LEED Platinum certified buildings in the state. During the certification process, the company has earned 52 credits to achieve platinum certification and earned 10 out of 10 under energy efficiency criteria.
The project team of the company engaged in designing and construction process from 2008 has ensured introduction of eco-friendly installations in the building. The building incorporates an efficient HVAC system, latest glass and sensor to control the lighting inside the building to cut down its energy usage. The solar PV panels installed over its roof will generate enough energy to meet nearly 7.5% of is total electric power requirement and an installed geothermal heating and cooling system manages the thermal environment within the building all through the year.
The company moved into the new building in July 2010.
