Next Generation Data has declared its plans to construct seven data halls at its NGD Europe facility at Cardiff at a cost of around £12M. The expansion project received funding from the shareholders and is anticipated to get completed by the end of 2011.
The company has also contracted new rental accords valued over £20M for this year, which includes a US- headquartered Fortune 100 Company.
The data center expansion of the company is in line with its strategy to provide secure space, continuous power and cooling infrastructure for the safe custody of data systems and to handle its growing clientele list.
According to Next Generation Data’s Chairman, Simon Taylor, the extra capacity in the building is added to meet the growing demand of bigger- sized clients from Europe and from North America where it utilized its sales force to convince the clients.
Tom Freeman, Jones Lang LaSalle Data Center Solutions, a US-based company’s Managing Director, said that only few data centers world wide have the global data hub features and the data hub proposed in South Wales by Next Generation Data with its comparable features with US data centers will meet the requirements of the US Corporate houses. He added that the new NGD Europe data center with its bandwidth, power and security capabilities has good prospects to become a destination for the North American clients who look forward to extend their data networks outside the USA.
