Northern Trust declared that its Bangalore, India, located Northern Operating Services office has received the LEED Commercial Interiors Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership for a recent construction at the office.
The office in February 2010 has obtained the LEED gold certification for creating least ecological impact during the design and building stage thus becoming the first commercial facility to receive the LEED certification for its interiors in Bangalore. This facility is the firth Northern Trust Building to receive LEED certification and second facility of the company to achieve it in Bangalore.
The Platinum certification earned by the company denotes that its office has earned more than 80 points out of a maximum 100 points for 48 qualifications mentioned in the LEED list. The office has cut down its water usage to around 42% usage of a comparable normal building. For the interiors, the building used green seal certified chemical substances, paints with low volatile organic compounds and recycled carpets. It has installed instructive signage to educate its residents on green energy initiatives and use.
The other green initiatives that helped the building to achieve platinum certification include using of Green Guard Certified eco-friendly furniture, use of energy star rated appliances and equipment to save energy and automatic facility to control the temperature. The building during the construction phase recycled the debris and construction wastes.
