Fortress International Receives Design-Build Contract for Energy-Efficient Data Center

Fortress International, a consulting and engineering and building management services provider who also offers 24/7/365 site services for important facilities, declared that a private staffing solutions company that offers outsourcing solutions for international and domestic companies has granted it a design build contract worth $16 million.

According to Thomas P. Rosato, CEO of Fortress, the company has executed a range of works for the client during the last two years and the present contract is for the first phase of a proposed multi-stage construction. He added that his company is looking forward to having more business in their extension phase. Fortress has received a letter of intent from the company for the Maryland-based project in May this year. The engineering segment of the project is anticipated to persist through August 2011 and the construction will commence in September 2011. The project is anticipated to get completed in May 2012.

The first stage of the project requires design and construction of an IT space measuring 5,000 ft2 with 150 W power capability per square foot. In order to meet the requirements in the subsequent phases of the contract, Fortress is designing and erecting the needed infrastructure systems to sustain an IT space of 10,000 ft2 with 300 W power capability per square foot. The new facility will use a mix of easy to upgrade and maintainable design by incorporating a standby power plant, a new medium voltage electrical facility, and an UPS system. It will also include an exclusive cooling system that utilizes the power effectively to support energy and cost savings of the construction.
