Kana Pipeline has been granted a contract valued around $1.9 million to build the underground wet utility pipeline by the Wentz Group, a general construction company based at Newport Beach.
The Wentz Group is currently developing and constructing the Village at Bella Terra for DJM Capital Partners, the owner of the project. The Village at Bella Terra is a 14-acre metropolitan life style area for upscale mixed-use. It will have a four storey building, 467 apartment units, a 154,000 ft2 Costco and a 30,000 ft area to accommodate retailers. The construction of the project commenced in December 2010.
Kana Pipeline, which has commenced its work at the Village in May, will erect over 10,000 linear ft of sewer pipeline, storm drainage systems, reclaimed water pipelines, domestic pipelines and fire-line. The company has devised ways to handle the shallow ground water table in the area during the installation of the pipes. The company has installed a number of submersible pumps to pump out the water from the trenches cut for the installation of pipes. The company has used five times more rocks to consolidate the trench bedding required for the stability of the underground pipes.
According to Alcantar, a superintendent of the company, installation of pipe lines in Southern California being closer to coastal area always poses a problem but such problem will not affect the proposed completion dates.
