Rebuilding Together, a not for profit organization in Washington, D.C., has teamed up with Sears for its ‘Studs to Roof’, a home renovation project, to assist low-income homeowners based all over the country.
Rebuilding Together Northwest Arkansas, an associate of Rebuilding Together, has recently renovated the home of Lee Walker, a retired National Guard Veteran under the ‘Studs to Roof program’ by utilizing the services of Sears, sponsors and volunteers. The Walker home was totally damaged by a tornado in January this year.
The "Studs to Roof" program is rooted in Sears and Rebuilding Together’s Heroes at Home program. The initiative assists ex-service men by providing the much needed renovations in their houses. The program will assist military veterans in reconstructing their homes that meet the basic needs of homeowners. In addition to the Walker’s home, the program has plans to construct three more ‘Studs to Roof homes’ in October.
The final ‘Studs to Roof ‘project proposed for Washington DC will represent the 1000th veteran’s home built by Rebuilding Together. For the Walker home re-construction project, Sears will provide a toolbox with an assorted number of powered and hand tools.
