Jacobs Engineering Group declared that Goteborg Energi has granted it a contract to build a 20 MW biomass gasification and methanation project. The proposed GoBiGas-project will be located in Goteborg, Sweden.
The contract valued around $19 million or EUR 13.7 million will avail the engineering, procurement and construction management (ECPM) services from Jacob. The company is planning to provide the needed services from its offices located in Leiden, The Netherlands.
Under the conditions of the contract, Jacobs will offer construction management services for the construction of a new demonstration plant on behalf of GoBiGas. The plant will utilize biomass to generate biomethane, which will be distributed to the present clients utilizing Goteborg Gas grid. Metso Power in coordination with Repotec will provide the needed gasification technology and the methanation technology will be provided by Haldor Topsoe. The plant is anticipated to become functional in 2013.
Executive Vice President of Jacobs, Gary Mandel stated that they are glad to be a part of this innovative project, which allows methane development from renewable resources.
