Caterpillar declared that it has opened a remanufacturing facility over an area measuring 20,000 sq.m in Singapore. The facility will perform the role of a regional source hub to supply major remanufactured components that are used in bigger- sized off-highway trucks and other equipment utilized for mining such as transmissions, engines, torque converters and final drives.
The remanufacturing facility of Caterpillar converts the old and used components that are no longer operational into new original parts with good durability, reliability and performance. The remanufacturing process assists in minimizing the wastes, cuts down the requirement of raw materials needed for the production of new parts and enables the company to supply the components at low costs while maintaining the life span of the product.
According to Mark DuBois, Remanufacturing & Components Division’s facility manager at Singapore, the new facility has received the partnership support of the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore. He added that the new facility has enabled the company to have a better partnership with its dealers and clients to offer repair options that minimizes the down time while improving the availability of equipment.
