Roberts + Schaefer to Build Port Arthur Refinery Expansion Project for Motiva

Motiva has recently chosen Roberts & Schaefer (R&S), an auxiliary of KBR to build a petroleum coker (pet coke) material handling system for its Port Arthur, Texas located Port Arthur Refinery Expansion Project. It is considered to be an important project for Motiva as well as for the South Texas region.

R&S will erect, establish and trial run the pet coke system. The company will also offer construction management at the site and provide technical support for testing and commissioning of the facility. The present project valued around$9.1 million is in sequence to the completion of engineering, procurement and construction phase of the project by R&S.

The present expansion is anticipated to augment the present per day handling capacity of the refinery to 600,000 barrels by 2012, thus making it one among the top 10 refineries in the world and the largest in the U.S.
