NCC Construction of Sweden has been contracted to build new offices and a workshop for ABB in Ludvika. These new buildings will be environmentally categorized in line with LEED. The value of the contract is around SEK 300 million.
These offices and workshop are a division of the High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) of ABB, and its land area is roughly 20,000 m2 and will accommodate over 800 personnel.
ABB has high environmental requirements and NCC has the exact capability to provide such exceptional environmental results. The buildings are expected to receive the LEED gold certification. Energy consumption, indoor climate and materials are included in this LEED level classification.
These new office and workshop buildings will offer the ideal environment for the future of ABB’s HVDC technology and development in the power transmission area. At present, ABB in collaboration with NCC will construct eco-adapted production building and office wherein all the workers of HVDC in Ludvika will be brought under a single roof.
NCC has planned to begin the construction work in May-June 2011 and will be finishing in October 2012. The contract is restricted upon standard building endorsement. This order will be recorded in the second quarter of 2011 and the company will provide work for 60-80 people on an average in this project.
