DFW International Airport Launches Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program

DFW International Airport has declared the launch of its construction program known as Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program (TRIP). The renovation program with a budget of $1.9 billion will complete the renovation of four terminals opened by DFW in 1974 in phases within a period of seven years.

The phase 1-B of the TRIP program that commenced recently in Terminal A will rebuild Gates A9 to A11 and one among the three parking garages located in Terminal A.The renovation project will continue in a phased manner affecting only a small portion of the terminal at a given time to make the changeover process smooth. The project covers redevelopment of A, B, C and E, terminals and improvements in passenger amenities such as ticketing, safety and concessions. The project will also replace the present plumbing, electrical, ventilations systems and other facilities at the terminals.

The new designs will include more concessions space in the terminals and merging concessions areas to villages are planned close to the inspection points and skylink people mover stations. The construction plans at Terminal A of the airport is slated to get completed in 2014 and the total TRIP program will be finished by the end of 2017. After the completion of the program, DFW Airport will become an efficient transportation center with access to rail and highway and latest passenger amenities.
