Foster Wheeler, a well known engineering and construction contracting company and supplier of power equipment, has declared that one of the auxiliary companies within its Global Engineering and Construction Group has been contracted by Thai Oil Public Company to provide the fundamental engineering package and engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) services.
The services of the company are required for a PSA-3 project and emission improvement project at the Thai Oil refinery situated in Sriracha, Thailand. Foster Wheeler will provide a considerable level of revamp work in the project.
The project is aimed at offering the refinery more flexibility in the crude the refinery can process and to facilitate the refinery to process crude oils with higher level of sulfur content. This will assist the refinery to improve the crude oil for better end products and to cope up with the proposed legislations related to sulfur oxide emissions in Thailand.
The use of the deep cut vacuum technology will cut down the residual production and reduce the effects of heavier crude slates. The proposed sour gas handling facility will include a tail gas treatment unit and a sulfur recovery unit and the increased level of hydrogen generation will be achieved by the erection of a new pressure swing absorption unit.
The conditions of the contract are not revealed and the project is anticipated to be finished in the first quarter of 2013.
