DHL, a logistic company, has declared that its DHL Global Forwarding operations and DHL Express facilities have moved to a LEED certified facility in Ameriplex at Elm Hill.
The 31,000-square-foot LEED certified facility is in tune with the GoGreen Program of the company to achieve carbon efficiency by the year 2020.
The LEED certified facility incorporates a number of energy-efficient features such as motional control interior lights, outdoor solar powered light fixtures, and water conserving bathrooms. The building also incorporates a rainwater harvesting system to water outdoor plants. Sun reflective materials are installed over the roof to increase the cooling effects during summer months. The strategically located facility will allow DHL Global Forwarding and DHL Express easy access to their customers located in the Middle Tennessee-area.
DHL, as a part of its GoGreen initiative, has introduced a number of programs to reduce energy and promote efficient use of existing facilities. In 2010, DHL Global Forwarding introduced its recycling, training and lighting retrofitting programs across the USA. The initiatives also focus on improving the fuel efficiency of the aircrafts and other vehicles used by the company. The programs also include research on other green fuels.
DHL Express on its part has introduced all green vehicles to cut down carbon discharges from its delivery operations. All DHL units provide green ecological carbon delivery services and offer clients to compensate the carbon emissions during shipment.
