Hendrick Construction, a Charlotte-based general contractor who provides commercial construction services, declared that it has secured a deal to construct ‘the Comedy Zone’, a new site in the premier entertainment district of Charlotte.
The Comedy Zone will feature a 7,100-square-foot space at NC Music Factory in Fourth Ward. The space that is located below the Saloon at NC Music Factory will have an underground bowl and a stage with a stadium to accommodate 400 visitors. The space will be bigger compared to most of the comedy clubs yet the layout of the club will. be more warm and comfortable. The club site will sport advanced lighting and sound systems. An exclusive area is earmarked for the VIPs. The club will also share a cooking room and a restaurant above it will offer a range of menu options.
According to Dan Reep, Project Manager of Hendrick Construction, construction work will be carried out below an operational restaurant and this presents a challenging project. About 90% of the underground support columns have to be relocated to produce the required bowl effect with seating arrangements. Also, a part of the plumbing and electrical wiring of the restaurant needs to be moved. Both works require close scheduling and continued coordination till completion.
The project has already started and is planned to be completed at the end of June 2011.
