Lend Lease has declared, through Bovis Lend Lease, that it has been granted an accord to construct a new Centralized Communications Center and Public Safety Facilities with advanced facilities, for the use of Pinellas County in Largo, Florida.
The new campus will comprise a 911 call center, an emergency operation center, and an EMS. The campus will also hold the Sheriffs operational and administrative headquarters and dispatch center. The total budget of the construction, which includes furnishing and equipment, is estimated at $81.4M.
Lend Lease will construct the proposed buildings over a 40 acre site after demolishing the existing buildings. The building will also include a car parking garage with a capacity to house 807 cars. The constructed facilities will feature a power plant that can be used to provide electricity for cooling and heating purposes and to supply power to the Sheriff’s communication building and for vehicle maintenance. The building will be designed and built strong enough to endure the Florida hurricanes and stormy winds up to 203 mph speed.
For the purpose of increasing the efficiency of the building design and construction, real-time three-dimensional software known as Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology is being deployed. The facilities to be included in the building construction will be designed to meet the requirements of LEED certification standards.
Lend Lease is currently working in close liaison with Harvard Jolly, a St. Petersburg Florida-based architectural company, selected for the project. The project is anticipated to commence the construction in October 2011 and expected to be completed by August 2013.
