Skanska Partners with Rados to Complete Light Rail Extension Project in Los Angeles

Skanska USA, a development and construction company, declared that it has received a contract from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for the light rail extension project in Los Angeles County, California. The project happens to be the first ever transit project for Skanska in Southern California.

For the purpose of completing the contract worth USD 382.9 M, Skanska has entered into a partnership with Rados by holding 70% of the joint venture shares. The partnership will engage the services of Parsons Brinckerhoff to provide design services as a subcontractor for the project. The design-build contract will include the building of a seven mile extension of the light rail from Culver City to Santa Monica in Los Angeles County. The scope of the project includes the laying of 14 miles of track, the construction of two aerial stations five at-grade stations and an elevated transitway for one mile.

The construction of the project is anticipated to commence in spring 2011 and to get completed in the middle of 2015.
