Ralph L.Wadsworth Construction Utilizes Accelerated Bridge Construction Method

Sterling Construction, a civil construction company that is focused on the construction and reconstruction of infrastructures employed in water and transportation sectors, in Nevada, Utah, Texas and other states, has declared that Provo River Constructors (PRC), in which its subsidiary company in Utah, Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction (RLW) is an associate, has completed the transportation of the two-span, pre-built Sam White Bridge located in American Fork, Utah by utilizing the Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) technology.

The bridge is the first ever longest pre-built and transported bridge with the help of self-propelled modular transporters (SPMT) in the USA.

The bridge was constructed utilizing Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) method to eliminate the problem of downtime and traffic blocks while improving the safety of the workers involved. The new 354 feet and 3.8 million pound weighing bridge was kept into place 21 feet above the ground over interstate 15 with eight lanes by deploying SPMT. The construction of the bridge was completed three hours ahead of the pre-fixed time. Constructing the bridge by deploying the ABC method obviated the need for closing around 10 full traffic freeways thus allowing the free movement of public as well as goods transport services.

As a part of the $1.7 billion I-15 reconstruction work of UDOT in Utah County 59 bridges will be either rebuilt, modified to changed requirements or rebuilt like that of the Sam White bridge.
