Bacardi U.S.A, the marketing and distribution division of the leading wine and spirits manufacturing company, has declared that its Bacardi Americas Headquarters, located in Coral Gables, Fla, achieved LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Certification in Commercial Interiors (CI) from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Bacardi Americas Headquarters, a fifteen-story building with a total floor space of about 207,630 square foot, achieved LEED gold certification with 36 credits in five ecological categories such as water efficiency, sustainable sites, materials & resources, energy and atmosphere and indoor environmental quality. In addition to including LEED certified aspects the building boasts the latest type of IT infrastructure, which provides quicker and improved reach to information, nurtures improved teamwork and sustains global communications. The infrastructure aspects include VoIP telephone facility, quicker access to services based on internet, rich media intranets and others.
The LEED green building certification program of the U.S. Green Building Council promotes and speeds-up the worldwide acceptance of sustainable green building and development practices by utilizing a set of rating systems to distinguish the projects that incorporate strategies for improved ecological and health performance. The program provides LEED credits for eight ecological categories and issues four levels of certification such as ordinary certificate, silver rating, gold rating and platinum rating with varying credits from 21-26 to a maximum of 41+ credits for platinum rating.
