Sweco, an international consulting firm, has secured almost EUR 1.7 million worth sustainable urban planning contracts in China.
The three new developments contracts are Jixi Wetland project, Yinchuan eco-city and Wuxi eco-city. Sweco has to prepare initial and detail plans for these Chinese projects.
The Manager for Chinese operations at Sweco Sweden, Mark Ryberg, stated that in recent years, the company has been focused on building new operation in China.
The Caofeidian eco-city planning is one of the major projects for Sweco and is currently under process. Once completed, the Peking-based eco-city will house nearly one million residents.
The metropolitan areas in China have rapid inflow of people and hence there are severe environmental issues in various locations. To avoid this, steps are being taken for developing sustainable urban environments. Sweco contributes to these initiatives by working with the Sustainable City model that strives to cut down emissions from residential areas and cities.
