KB Home to Install Solar Power as Standard Feature in New Community Homes

KB Home, a homebuilding company in the USA, has declared that it will install solar power systems as a standard feature in its new homes planned for 10 communities in Southern California.

The installed systems will enable home owners to cut down on their energy bills and improve the environment.

The company had earlier installed solar systems in  its client’s homes as an option in some of the chosen communities in Colorado and California for a number of years. For the first time, the company is trying to provide solar systems as a home package for every house in the community. The installed solar systems will enable the home owners to qualify for a federal tax rebate. KB Home has chosen SunPower, a supplier of efficient solar panels, to provide the solar know-how and panels for the community houses.

For the purpose of demonstrating the advantages offered by the new solar powered homes, the company has declared its intentions to include its patented KB Home Energy Performance Guide (EPG) in every new home. The EPG guide will display the approximate monthly savings, which can be achieved by the home owner in their gas and electric usage. The guide will also display the comparable energy efficiency of the home with other normal homes.
