John Holland, a fully owned auxiliary of Leighton Holdings, has been chosen to carry out the $360 million estimated Perth City Link rail project in Perth CBD.
John Holland has formed an alliance with the Public Transport Authority (PTA) and GHD to execute the project and anticipates receiving $310 million as its percentage in the venture.
The proposed project will require the alliance to sink the existing Fremantle Line that connects William Street and LakeStreet/King Street and re-link the CBD with Northbridge in order to build a new land for improvement. John Holland as a part of the work will also improve the existing Perth Station. The Perth City Link project in which John Holland handles an important constituent will utilize all the materials, labor and resources from the state and is anticipated to better the Western Australian economy and bring in notable benefits in the form of social and economic developments to the state.
The Project is anticipated to draw in over $3 billion as investment from private investors into the local economy and will induce additional constructions in home, business and in the retail segment. The designing and planning work for the project is anticipated to commence soon. The building of the project is planned to start at the latter part of this year and is expected to get completed in 2014.
