Hayneedle.com, a leading online retailer of home furnishings and lifestyle products, today announced that its Customer Distribution Center at the Monroe Logistics Center has been granted LEED Silver Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification is the internationally recognized and nationally accepted benchmark that defines the standards for high-performance and environmentally responsible development. Features of the Hayneedle Customer Distribution Center at the Monroe Logistics Center include increased natural lighting with skylights and windows, reduced energy and water usage, motion-sensor lighting, low-emitting adhesives, sealants, coatings, and early suppression fast response (ESFR) sprinklers.
The Hayneedle Customer Distribution Center, located about 20 miles north of downtown Cincinnati, opened in July 2010 and serves as Hayneedle's primary customer distribution and fulfillment center. Hayneedle employs up to 110 associates at the 501,357 square-foot facility during peak seasons.
"We are constantly evaluating our business to minimize our footprint on the earth, which benefits our bottom line, our employees and the customers we serve," said Jon Barker, Chief Operating Officer, Hayneedle. "The environmentally conscious design of our Customer Distribution Center provides an optimal work environment, while providing us with energy savings for years to come. The LEED Silver certification is a wonderful recognition and consistent with who we are as a company."
