Dessau Purchases Ontario-Based Merlex Engineering

Dessau Inc., one of Canada's largest engineering-construction firms, has just announced the acquisition of Merlex Engineering Ltd., of North Bay, Ontario, that specializes in geotechnical and geo-environmental engineering, construction inspection and quality control.

"We are very pleased to announce this acquisition, our third in Ontario in the last few months. Merlex strengthens our presence in the northern region of the province and their expertise enhances our service offering. With the acquisition of HTES in Calgary last February and now this one, Dessau intends to continue expanding its reach across Canada and abroad," states Mr. Jean-Pierre Sauriol, President and Chief Executive Officer at Dessau.

"We are excited to join Dessau, one of the country's leading engineering-construction firms, as it will give our clients access to a wider range of services. It will also open interesting opportunities and challenges here and abroad for our employees," adds Mr. Michael Merleau, President of Merlex.

The firm will become part of LVM, Dessau's largest subsidiary, which employs over 1,400 people and provides geotechnical, materials and environmental engineering services. In Ontario, Dessau and LVM have a combined total of more than 200 employees working in 10 locations.
