In an effort to inform its trade partners about water-saving products demanded by consumers living in water-deficient regions, Sterling has commissioned a “hands-on” mobile tour to demonstrate the efficiency of the latest advancements in toilet technology.
The Water Conservation Toilet Tour Minivan, which features both STERLING® and KOHLER® toilets that incorporate their patented water-saving flushing technologies – Dual Force™ and Class Five™, respectively – is on a 7-month mission to help preserve the environment by sharing a compelling water-saving message.
The minivan began its journey in Texas in May and will travel through New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon, and Washington, then loop back through Utah, Colorado, and Illinois before returning to Wisconsin in December
. To help demonstrate the new water-saving benefits to “green-minded” industry professionals – plumbers, builders, remodelers, distributors, kitchen & bath dealers, designers, architects, engineers and water utility managers – during sales calls and at special events, the van features two functional toilets that users can flush – the STERLING Rockton™ toilet with Dual Force flushing technology (0.8 and 1.6 gallon flush options) and the KOHLER Cimarron Comfort Height™ toilet with Class Five flushing technology (1.4 or 1.6 gallon flush settings) – along with two other STERLING models – the brand new Karsten™ dual-flush toilet (0.8 and 1.6 gallon flush options) and Windham toilet (1.6 gallon flush).
The STERLING Rockton and Karsten toilets with Dual Force flushing technology provide a compelling water conservation solution, helping a household of four save up to 6,000 gallons of water per year over standard low-flow models, which routinely flush 1.6 gallons of water. Moreover, in households who still have obsolete 3.5-gallon models, these dual-flush toilets can save over 25,000 gallons of water per year. The KOHLER Cimarron Comfort Height toilet with its 1.4 gallon flush setting can save a household of four over 2,000 gallons of water per year.
“Inspired by eco-friendly and sustainability-oriented consumers, the visually appealing raphics on the outside of the minivan create an association between the Dual Force and Class Five technology toilets, water conservation and environmental stewardship” said Tom Bartenstein, manager-wholesale channel marketing for Sterling.
Drought and water shortages are inherent concerns to people living along the Colorado River Basin where rivers and flood plains make up only 3 percent of the land but support over 90 percent of the region’s existence. Moreover, the populations in Nevada and Arizona have grown by more than 40 percent over the last decade vastly increasing water usage and creating a rise in demand for water-efficient technology.
“Sterling and Kohler’s ultra-efficient toilets save water that is becoming increasingly scarce in regions of the West and other parts of the country,” said Bartenstein. “These toilets also play a favorable role in reducing stress on septic and municipal sewage systems. Our ongoing commitment to developing and improving water-efficient toilets will continue to benefit consumers who are passionate about conserving water, saving money and caring for the environment.”
