Roof-Mounted Solar Facility Construction at United Stationers' Distribution Center, New Jersey

KDC Solar has teamed up with United Stationers Supply Co. and The Sudler Companies to design, install, own and operate a 3.25 MW roof-mounted solar installation at United Stationers' distribution center in Cranbury, New Jersey.

Once completed, the solar facility will generate approximately 3,450,000 kilowatt hours of solar electricity per year. The warehouse, which is leased to United Stationers by the Sudler Companies, is one of United's largest volume distribution centers in the country.

Tim Connolly, Senior Vice President of Operations at United Stationers, stated, "We are continuously looking for ways to be more environmentally friendly throughout our everyday operations. We are very pleased to be able to utilize the program offered by KDC Solar, which will help us do that while reducing our operating costs through the use of clean solar energy. We anticipate that the solar installation will supply up to 90% of our overall electric needs at our Cranbury distribution center."

Construction is scheduled to start in early 2011, with the objective that the project should be operational before year end.

KDC Solar's CEO, Hal Kamine, said, "We are excited about the opportunity to team with the Sudler Companies and United Stationers to bring clean, low cost, long-term solar energy to another business in New Jersey. This solar facility will demonstrate United Stationers' and The Sudler Companies' recognition of the business-friendly/job focused-environment created by New Jersey policymakers for behind-the-meter solar electric systems."

Peter D. Sudler, CEO of The Sudler Companies, said "We are committed to building and modifying our properties to be as energy efficient as possible. Modifying our already energy efficient buildings to a sustainable, environmentally efficient Solar energy source where appropriate, not only lowers occupancy costs for our tenants, but is a responsible business practice for a multi-generation property owner such as Sudler. Given the experience in the private energy arena that the professionals at KDC Solar have, we have great confidence that the solar facility will represent a 'win-win-win' for all three companies not to mention the positive impact on the environment and the state of New Jersey."
